In celebration of their dedication and expertise, we called upon our members to share insights into their unique offices, highlighting the personalized services, industry specialties and community connections that set them apart. Business name and location: Frank Trichak Bookkeeping & Income Tax Service, Illinois

Owner: Frank Trichak

Operating for 49 years, Trichak’s business files approximately 600 returns annually. It also provides bookkeeping services to a small number of commercial clients and conducts annual supervisory audits for small credit unions.


Business name and location: Thomas Michielsen Tax & Accounting, New York

Owner: Thomas Michielsen

Operating for 49 years, Michielsen is a year-round sole proprietor who prepares individual, partnership, C-corp, S-corp fiduciary, sales tax and payroll tax returns. He also does bookkeeping services for some clients.

Owner: Jami Gibbs

After working for more than 10 years for a chain, Gibbs made the decision to go out on their own to provide a better client experience; hometown touch but with experience and programs to back it up. Gibbs’ practice has been operating for a year, and offers bookkeeping/accounting and payroll services, tax prep, notary services, and other administrative duties for small businesses and individuals.

Owner: Lisa Belmonte

Operating for one year, Belmoore Financial Solutions is dedicated to providing personalized, one-on-one customer service to help make the process as stress-free as possible. Its experienced and knowledgeable tax team will take the time to listen to the needs of clients and provide customized solutions that meet each financial situation.

Owner: Kathy Butler

Operating for more than 30 years, Outside Resources serves personal and business clients. Butler goes to clients’ homes to perform tax preparation services. Everything is at the home. People feel better about sharing personal information, and she can work around their schedule. Butler primarily serves clients in Northwestern Vermont but will travel if someone is in need of assistance.

Owner: June Laschober

Laschober has operated a small tax preparation business for 39 years and specializes in small business tax preparation and personal income taxes. Three years ago, Laschober’s granddaughter joined the business to learn and eventually take over.

Owner: Paulette Kates, EA

Kates Notary & Tax Service has been operating for 45 years with around 900 tax clients. Kates is retiring this year but has loved doing taxes and seen it all. Kates’s specialty is working with clergy and nonprofits.


Business name and location: That Time Service

Owner: Patricia Pam-Steel

That Time Service is a full-service tax preparation company, providing a wide range of services including notary, loan signing agents, bookkeeping and business registration services. The business has been operating for two years.


Business name and location: Perez Accounting Tax Notary Services, Florida

Owner: Tonya Perez

Perez Accounting Tax Notary Services is a small boutique business, operating for three years. It provides tax resolution services, tax planning and preparation, payroll services, paralegal services and CFO services.


Business name and location: Westview Tax Services, Kentucky

Owner: Martha Nest, EA

Nest is a sole proprietor specializing in small business and self-employed taxes. Nest opened a practice in Maine in 1984 and moved it (along with its clients) to Kentucky in 2009. After operating for 40 years, Westview Tax Service prepares returns for clients in approximately 20 states.

Owner: Nancy Priebe

Priebe founded the business in 2019, driven by the desire to be the trusted tax expert for individuals, small farms and small businesses. Priebe said witnessing the retiring tax professionals and the lack of accessible tax assistance, she knew she could make a difference. Priebe also provides tax planning and bookkeeping services.

Owner: Wilma Simmons

Simmons’ Tax Service has been operating for more than 50 years. The business is located in a country setting, so it serves a small amount of clients, but those clients are very loyal.

Owner: Pamela Pickett

Pickett is a sole proprietor with one receptionist. Pickett worked as a preparer for another business for 15 years before deciding to go out on her own four years ago. The business has grown significantly from the very first year in operation.

Owner: Michelle Gunther, CFE

Operating for six years, Village Professional Services provides tax and bookkeeping services in a small-town environment. Gunther hopes to build the business and add staff that will take over someday and keep it going.


Business name and location: JMB Consulting LLC, Illinois

Owner: Jeanne Brose, EA

Working out of her horse trailer, Brose has been running her business for nine years. After working for the same firm in Minneapolis for 21 years, she also rides and competes dressage horses. Brose enjoys the freedom of being an independent practitioner and likes to travel to Florida in the winter.

Nelson’s Accounting & Tax Services offers personalized financial guidance to individuals, self-employed individuals and small businesses. Nelson’s Accounting & Tax Services is a year-round, full-service accounting firm that provides a range of expertise, including accounting services, business startups, payroll, tax preparation and auditing. Operating for nine years, Nelson’s Accounting & Tax Services is committed to providing professional services at reasonable prices to individuals and small business owners.

Owner: Jackie Sanders, AFSP

Operating for 25 years, Just Xcellent Service Tax & Retirement serves communities in Louisiana and Texas. From rural areas to cities, Sanders sees the business as a way to connect and support the communities her business services. Helping others is the primary goal and bringing valuable knowledge to communities is very important.

Owner: Joel Meltzer

Meltzer joined his dad’s accounting business right out of college. After his dad got ill, he was forced to retire, and Joel kept the company going. Meltzer Accounting and Tax Service has been operating for 50 years.
